Nyando MP Fred Outa has announced plans to roll out refrigerators in all the health centres across the constituency by next week.

Outa said the project, to be undertaken by Unicef, is aimed at storing medicines in a properaa way.

The MP said most medicine goes into waste as a result of poor storage and the refrigerators will help in curbing such wastage.

Outa said there are some medicines that recommend that they be stored in a refrigerator and most of the health facilities in the constituency lack the facility.

“Our medicines will be now safe and I want to tell the people of Nyando that there will be no wastage of medicines,” he said.

He said the sub-county hospital, health centres and dispensaries spread across the constituency will benefit from the project.

Speaking in his constituency on Friday after touring projects, Outa thanked Health CS James Macharia for the support to enable Nyando constituency to benefit.

He further noted that he is a member of the health committee in the national assembly and his influence also made Nyando to be included in the project.

Outa told his constituents that he will strive to ensure health care is improved.
