Nyando MP Fred Outa has claimed his life is in danger after a contingent of police officers surrounded his rural home on Saturday evening.
Outa who was in Kisumu city received several calls from his constituents after they noticed the officers at around 7pm.
The MP wondered what the officers were pursuing after they failed even to talk to the security guards at his home.
“What worries me is that why didn’t they call me or even enter the compound to inquire about my whereabouts. Why camp outside until midnight?” he asked.
He appealed to Kisumu police chief to provide information on why the officers surrounded his home without his knowledge.
Addressing a press conference in Kisumu on Sunday, Outa said if he has committed any offence, then that should be communicated to him.
He said the officers ought to have placed summon or leave a message at his home but they chose to stay long into the night before leaving.
The MP further appealed to the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet to look into the matter noting that he fears for his life.
“I want to ask the IG to help me understand what his officers were looking for at my rural home. Just last week, we lost Jacob Juma, I cannot take this matter lightly,” he added.
Outa plans to lodge a formal complaint at the Kisumu police station on Monday in the company of his lawyer.
He noted that if it is a scheme by the government to intimidate him as an opposition lawmaker who has been in the forefront to call for change then he will not be cowed.
“I am in the Firimbi Movement and I am also against IEBC and will continue participating in peaceful demonstrations to have the commission disbanded,” he said.
