Nyando MP Fred Outa has said he will continue with his criticism of the leadership of Kisumu County Governor Jack Ranguma until his people reap the benefits of devolution.
Outa said he is not a critic of Ranguma for no apparent reason, but wants his people to get their share of the national cake that has been devolved.
He said he represents Nyando people, who are also paying taxes and need services from both the national and county governments.
“I am a representative of the people and I must fight for their survival. I have no problem with you, just give services to my people,’ he said.
The MP said the county government must address issues that have been devolved under the new constitution, and will not stop demanding services for his people. Ranguma, who shared a platform with the MP at Ahero Multipurpose during the distribution of appointment letters to Early Childhood assistants in Nyando constituency, said he is ready to serve all the county residents.
However, the Governor said most of the funds the county is receiving from the national government go to salary payment.
Ranguma said what is left is very minimal to carry out meaningful development in the county, noting that all workers must be paid monthly.
“I must pay salary to the workers in the county and what always remain in every financial year is very merger to do much development work,” he said.n
