Police in Nyando are pursuing a man who hacked his father to death.
Jimbo Ade purportedly killed his father, Naftal Otieno, 58, a veterinary doctor employed by the County Government of Kisumu after the father declined a rice meal he offered him.
According to Nyando Director of Criminal Investigation Officer (DCIO) Robinson Cherenge, the nerve wracking incident happened on 17th November.
The deceased however succumbed to the injuries on 20th at Ahero County Hospital.
The police nonetheless suspect that the family of the deceased was planning to smokescreen the incident.
This is after they discovered the incident was not reported to any police station. Besides, the family was planning to conduct a burial without a postmortem being performed.
Cherenge however said he had directed the hospital not to release the body for burial before a post mortem was done.
“This will enable the police get enough evidence to press charges against the suspect,” said Mr Cherenge.
“We are currently looking for the suspect, and we hope we will catch up with him very soon to ensure that justice is accorded."
