Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama has been accused of maladministration by one of his closest competitors in 2017.
and urged to retire honorably in 2017 to avoid a possible embarrassment in an election defeat.
Mr Evans Misati on Sunday said the governor was unable to handle escalating corruption cases in the county and pointed that the incumbent was allegedly promoting clanism in the county.
“It’s now evident that he (Nyagarama) is unable to deal with corruption that is rife in Nyamira,” Misati said.
“Recently we heard of a Sh7 million gate and subsequently corruption cases that involved top county officials but nothing was done. He has lost the trust from us,” he said.
Misati accused the governor of being unwilling to act by sacking officials who have been mentioned in mega scandals and threw a scathing attack on MCAs by accusing them of working with executive to protect merchants of impunity.
“The governor is unwilling to deal with corruption and it even becomes worse when he works with MCAs to cover corrupt individuals. Clanism is eminent in our county and I am ready to show that only the governor’s clan has gotten a fair share of top appointments or his close relatives and friends,” he said.
Misati urged Governor Nyararama to voluntarily swallow his 2017 ambitions by supporting an alternative candidate to avoid an embarrassing defeat.
“He should consider retiring from politics because he is unable to manage a small county and support another candidate. The mood on the ground is evident because people are increasing becoming worried of his administration tactics. I sense an embarrassing defeat,” he said.
