Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero should be a smiling governor after Viwandani MCA Samuel Nyangwara wrote to the County Assembly Speaker to withdraw an impeachment motion against the governor.
The MCA on Thursday wrote to Speaker Alex Magelo informing him of his decision to withdraw the motion he tabled in the October 4.
“I wish to withdraw a notice of motion filed pursuant to Section 33 of the County Government Act, 2012 and Standing Order 60,” reads the letter in part.
This comes after the the speaker suspended Nyangwara's motion on Wednesday following a decision by the High Court to bar the county assembly from discussing the motion until further directions.
According to the Star, however, the County Office of the Clerk on Saturday said that Nyangwara could only withdraw the motion from the Assembly after the case filed by the governor is heard and determined or if the county executive withdraws it.
In the impeachment motion, Nyangwara had accused Governor Kidero of incompetence, lack of leadership and violation procurement county laws.
