Ulinzi Stars coach Benjamin Nyangweso has expressed confidence that his team will overturn a 1-0 defeat by Libyan side Al Hilal Benghazi and proceed to the next round of the CAF Confederations Cup.
The two sides are meeting for the return leg in Nairobi next weekend and the coach is confident a home ground advantage will help them.
“It is not an easy match because they are a very tactical team. But if we work hard and minimize on our mistakes, it is a result we can overturn. The players are working hard in training and hopefully we will be at our best,” Nyangweso told the club’s official website.
Of their first leg loss, Nyangweso said it came as a result of a defensive mistake by his players, who were appealing for an offside call instead of guarding the Libyan attackers.
“They scored when my defenders stood back thinking the referee would be calling for an offside which he didn’t. But we gave in a very good match and we had chances which we failed to use. This is one of the things we are looking at for the return leg. We should use our chances,” the coach said.
The return match will be played at the Kasarani Stadium on Saturday 18 February, starting 3pm.
