Residents of Nyanko village in Nyaribari Chache constituency now want the area chief Mr Charles Obonyo to intensify crackdown measures on illegal brew.
According to the residents, who spoke to Hivisasa, the uncurbed alcohol brewing in the area has led to many school dropouts and broken marriages, with the drunkards occasionally becoming offensive.
Thomas Okemwa, a resident, said the area chief has been lenient on alcohol brewers, alleging that those owning the alcohol joints are notorious culprits.
"The number of alcohol dens between here and Kabuori village is alarming and its kind of our leaders are bribed. Most of us never schooled because of our alcoholic parents who never had any interest in education. If the government succeeds in combating alcohol here, we will be at peace and progressive," he said.
"Starting from Kabuori to Rianyamwamu the drinking dens should be shut down completely," added Okemwa.
Janet Isoe, a resident and married mother of four, said the laxity by the area chief has motivated the alcohol brewers to enlarge their illegal business.
"Our chief is less concerned with the rising drinking in our village. They have taken advantage of that to spoil our men and youths," she said.
The interior ministry launched a nationwide crackdown on the illicit brew, earlier this year.
