This comes after a series of robbery with violence in the area in the last few weeks that led to death of at least two traders and injuries to a number of them.

Led by business community chairman in the township, Jared Monyenye, they urged the government to work expeditiously to restore security in the area.

“We are here today to condemn what has been happening in this township for the last one month. There have been a lot of theft and vandalism by unknown goons. They have killed at least two of our own and we want the government to take charge,” he said.

According to him, attackers only targeted members of the business community and aimed at inflicting harm on them besides robbing them.

”They are only targeting traders. They normally rob us money and some goods before injuring and sometimes killing their prey,” he said.

They blamed the police force for failing to combat such incidents despite having reported the matter severally without an appropriate action.

“Our security details have been sleeping on their job. No criminal has ever been apprehended over the same matter,” he said.

However, area chief Charles Mokenye defended the security officers from the scathing attacks and assured protesters of improved security.
