Residents of Kitutu Masaba using Nyantaro River bridge to cross over to Magombo – Esani road have been urged to avoid the road after the bridge was swept away.
Manga OCPD James Musyimi said the bridge was swept away by floods following the heavy downfall being experienced in the area.
“The bridge is impassable and residents are advised to use alternative routes to reach to their destination to curb unnecessary deaths during this rainy season," he said.
He called on parents not to allow children to use the bridge because they may drown into the river.
“Parents should ensure their children are safe during this heavy season. We don’t want to witness unnecessary deaths,” he said.
He called on Nyamira County government under the leadership of Governor John Nyagarama to move with speed and repair the bridge.
