Clerics from Nyanza region have expressed disappointment following president Uhuru Kenyatta’s remarks concerning the 2007/2008 post-election violence.
Uhuru during his tour in Kisii county, Wednesday, blamed opposition leader Raila Odinga of being the mastermind behind the chaos that arose after a disputed poll that left over 1,000 people dead and over 600,000 families displaced.
The church leaders now want the president to be careful with his utterances to the public saying they might split the country.
“In this regard, the president should speak as the Head of State and government, with a tone aimed at uniting all tribes within the republic, not as a political activist out to divide the country along tribal lines,” Bishop Washington Ogonyo, said, Thursday.
The clergy further urged the Head of State to be in the frontline by preaching peace as the country heads to the August 8 general election.
