Following the recent transfers and deployment of national government officers, Moffat Muriithi Kangi has taken over the Nyanza Regional Commissioners’ (RC) office.
During the ceremony on Wednesday, Kangi who took over from Wilson Njega, called for team work from government officers, county leaders and local elders to ensure delivery of government services is enhanced.
He pledged to work closely with all stakeholders to ensure that the county moves smoothly and that national government services are delivered effectively.
The new RC assured the residents that he will work closely with neighboring counties and especially border areas where cases of cattle theft have been rife, leading to hostility.
Kangi noted that one of his key duties will be to pay attention to the youth adding that he will work to ensure that they (the youth) are not being misused by a section of politicians who prompt them to engage in violence.
The handover ceremony paved way for the outgoing regional commissioner to move to his new work station after he was deployed to Central region in the same capacity.
The reshuffle of the regional commissioners was conducted earlier this month by Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i.
According to the CS, the transfers were meant to improve service delivery.
