Governor Jackson Ranguma has warned Senator Prof Anyang Nyong'o to shelve his gubernatorial ambitions or wait to face embarrassment at the ballot.
Ranguma who is expected to go head-to-head with Prof Nyong'o has declared his candidature is a walkover and that his opponents should be ready for a humiliating defeat.
"Let him prepare for a mother of all defeats because it will not be a walk in the park," Ranguma said.
Prof Nyong'o has since launched an ambitious campaign in a bid to unseat the incumbent in a crowded race for the top seat which also includes deputy Governor Ruth Odinga and business man Hezborn Mac'Obewa.
And it is not Ranguma alone. Elsewhere in Siaya, Governor Cornel Rasanga who has openly disagreed with MPs from the county says he is ready to face Senator James Orengo who is gunning for the seat.
"Let him come and see fire. It's not what he thinks. I will defeat him," Rasanga said.
So far, Rarieda MP Nicholas Gumbo is the front runner for the seat and he receives backing from majority of the area MPs.
However, Rasanga is backed by nominated MP Oburu Odinga.
