Three governors from vote rich former Nyanza province are reportedly on a panic mood as Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) primaries looms.

On Tuesday, ODM Leader Raila Odinga insisted that all elected members through the party will have to participate in party primaries come February 2017.

Jack Ranguma (Kisumu), Cyprian Awiti (Homabay) and Amoth Rasanga (Homa Bay) are set to face tough political opponents in 2017 polls.

On Tuesday, Awiti reportedly met Odinga in a closed door meeting during the Luo Cultural festivals where they are said to have discussed county politics.

Awiti is set to face Kabondo Kaspul MP Oyugi Magwanga and flamboyant businessman Sam Wakiaga in a tight ODM party primaries.

In Kisumu, Ranguma is set to face Senator Anyang' Nyong'o, a close ally of Odinga and Deputy Governor Ruth Odinga, Raila's younger sister.

Siaya race will be another battlefield following Senator James Orengo's entry and Public Accounts Committee Chair Nicholas Gumbo who currently serves as Rarieda MP.
