Internally Displaced Persons (IDPS) in Nyanza now want President Uhuru Kenyatta to concentrate in ensuring that all those who were affected in the 2007-2008 post election violence are fully compensated.
The IDPs led by their regional Chairman Nelson Owegi says following the collapse of President Uhuru Kenyatta case at the International Criminal Court (ICC) he should now help the victims.
Owegi said the compensation of IDPs has been skewed, adding that most genuine IDPs especially those from Nyanza region have not been compensated.
Speaking while reacting to the news that the President had been set free by the prosecutor Fatou Bensouda, Owegi said as IDPs, they are happy the president has been freed.
“We welcome the decision by the court to say there is no case against our president,” Said Owegi.
Owegi added that the President should now spearhead the establishment of the International and Organized Crimes Division (IOCD) of the High Court in Kenya to deal with small perpetrators, further saying there are many small perpetrators who committed crimes and are walking free in most parts of the country.
The Prosecutor withdrew the charges on Friday, saying she had encountered hurdles in attempting to secure the cooperation required for the investigation of the case from the Kenya government.
