Karachuonyo MP James Rege has hinted at vying for the Homa Bay gubernatorial seat during the 2022 general elections.
The two-time Member of Parliament, will, however not be seeking re-election during this year's general elections.
He ditched the Opposition Party earlier this year, citing frustrations within the party.
The lawmaker is set to lead President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election campaigns in Luo Nyanza.
Speaking in Kendu Bay on Friday, Rege dismissed claims that he was a political coward, insisting that he will make a comeback in 2022.
"Taking a break from elective politics does not mean I'm a coward of being trounced by opponents. In fact, I could have won by a big margin if I participated in the ODM primaries," he said.
He urged the locals to elect good leaders who can spur development in the region during the forthcoming polls.
“Elect good leaders in this year’s election without necessarily going for a political party,” he noted.
