Despite the Luo community being in the opposition for a long period of time, there are a number of top government officials in the country who are Luos.
Here are some of the top Luo Government officials you never knew about.
1. Rachael Omamo
Rachael Awuor Omamo was born in 1952. She is a Kenyan advocate and the Cabinet Secretary Ministry of State for Defense in Kenya.
She comes from Bondo and is the daughter of the former Bondo constituency MP William Odongo Omamo.
2. Edward Ouko
Mr. Edward Ouko is the Auditor-General of the Republic of Kenya.
He was appointed the Auditor General on 27 August, 2011. He is a Luo and was once accused on claims that top positions in his office are controlled by members of his Luo ethnic community.
3. Joseph Colonel Owuoth
Joseph Colonel Owuoth is the Kenya Defense Forces spokesman.
There were claims that he had gone missing during last year's election period by his family members and political leaders, claims he refuted.
4. Akello Misori
Akello Misori originates from Nyanza and he is the Secretary General of Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers ( KUPPET )
5. Joseph Vincent Onyango
Mr. Joseph Vincent was recently appointed the new Commission Secretary of the National Police Service Commission.
