A section of parents in Nyanza, are now demanding for an immediate election of the chairperson to the Kenya National Association of Parents (KNAP) in the region.
Jackson Omollo Ogweno currently holds the position and parents have threatened to demonstrate against him if elections will not be held in two months.
Led by Joel Aketch, the more than 50 parents drawn from Kisii, Nyamira, Homa Bay, Migori, Siaya and Kisumu Counties said they will seek legal redress, should Ogweno fail to adhere to their demands of calling for elections.
“Parents are fed up with Ogweno’s style of leadership, and we want new officials who can bring fresh ideas,” said Aketch.
Aketch urged the Kenya National Parents Association chairman Musau Ndunda, to intervene and ensure that new leaders are elected into office.
According to Aketch, Ogweno has been the chairman for more than 10 years, and is accused of pushing for his personal interests.
When reached for comment, Ogweno denied the allegations. He however declined to disclose when elections might be conducted.
