Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama has vowed to ‘protect’ the county for ODM leader Raila Odinga by financing his 2017 presidential campaigns.
Nyagarama’s statement comes after his Nairobi and Mombasa counterparts Dr Evans Kidero and Hassan Joho respectively promised to bankroll Raila’s campaigns.
Speaking on Tuesday during road inspection in Bosamaro, Nyagarama insisted the county is still an ODM zone and warned Jubilee of ‘difficult’ moments during the 2017 campaigns.
“Raila has done a lot for this country and I want to promise that I will take charge in ensuring that he wins in Nyamira. I am ready to use my resources to ensure he wins the elections not only in Nyamira but across the country,” he said.
“Nyamira has never been a Jubilee zone and I am prepared to make things difficult for them. This is our territory and we will protect it jealously. I am ready to supervise ODM activities in Nyamira as the ODM governor,” he said.
The Jubilee government is keen on outperforming the Orange party in the county which voted for the former prime minister overwhelmingly in 2013 polls.
Jomo Kenyatta Foundation chairman Walter Nyambati is leading the Jubilee troop.
