Speaking to journalists after attending a wedding reception in Kisii town, Tong’i said they had jointly agreed with the opposition on the amendments in the Bill before it was brought on the floor of the house for determination.

“I condemn with strongest terms the scuffle that erupted in the August house during debating of the security bill,” said Tong’i.

“The opposition must take responsibility over what emerged because we had agreed at preliminary stage on the Bill, before it was brought to the floor for debate and therefore they should relinquish from blaming the Speaker and those who supported the Bill,” he condemned.

Tong’i however said he is not aware if the chaos was pre-planned, and instead said the opposition should desist from undermining the government on its strides to ensuring it achieves its goals to the electorate.

“Am not aware whether the chaos were stage-managed or pre-planned but what is evident is that the opposition are pretenders and should be ignored since their aim is to revert the government’s scorecard,” he said.

In the MP’s address, he said the law is good for the country and insisted has no intention of gagging the media and infringing right of access to information.

“The Bill, now Act of parliament, is good and came timely for the security of our country that is now under siege. The Media should therefore, not mislead the public by purporting to have been gagged and their rights infringed,” he argued.
