Nyamira deputy governor Amos Nyaribo had dismissed claims that he forged Governor John Nyagarama's signature in a letter sacking County Secretary Erick Onchana.
For two days now, Nyaribo has been under pressure to quit with a section of locals reading malice in the controversial letter.
In a statement on Saturday, Nyaribo said the dismissal of the CS was done in accordance to the law.
"I have not forged the governor's signature at all and I won't try such a thing. The letter was written and signed by the governor.
"Those asking for my resignation are political opponents who want to soil my name. I won't resign any soon," he said.
On Friday, the DG took over as acting governor following a request by Nyagarama who flew to US for medication.
