Speaking at a burial ceremony on Wednesday, Mr Mosioma Ondieki accused some elders, who have been critical of his administration, of plotting to oust him from the seat without following due process.

Mr Mosioma asked the church’s headquarters in Nyamira to move step in with speed and investigate the claims before the problem escalates.

According to him, the amount of money that is perceived to have been stolen by him was used to purchase 40 bags of cement besides paying contractors who were cementing the floor.

“It is really amusing that I withdrew irregularly some Sh50,000 for my own benefit. Members of the construction committee withdrew the money and those accusing me know that. The money was used to purchase bags of cement,” he said.

“I call upon the conference to intervene and solve the issue because I sense some witch-hunt by some people who have been longing to take the seat,” he added.

However, the accusers led by Mr Winston Temu maintained that the elder committed the offence and reiterated their willingness to give concrete evidence.

We maintain that Mr Mosioma withdrew the construction money irregularly and all evidence is in our possession. I am ready with my team to present it because the church should never be used as an avenue of corruption,” said Temu in a separate function at the village.
