Nyaronge village residents in Nyamira County will no longer have to travel to distant places in search of water. The area MCA Ken Nyameino has said.
Speaking on Monday when officially opening the project that cost millions of shillings from the national government and the county government, MCA Nyameino said that the project was timely since it will serve hundreds of people.
“We have suffered for quite some time that. Most of us who used to fetch water from distant places will no longer do that,” said Nyameino.
He said the county government will facilitate piping of the water to various homesteads and will be paying the person who will be guarding the main water tanks.
“Our Governor John Nyagarama promised to pump water to all homesteads surrounding this site and am sure he will do that soon. The county government will employ a guard here to safeguard the place from possible vandalism,” added Nyameino.
Nyameino urged residents to support the county government to fulfil its promises to electorates and asked them to shun negative politics.
“We have a bad culture of not supporting incumbents. Time has come for us to support county governments at this infantry stage to better our future. Let us not divide our people along clans and instead engage in constructive politics,” said the MCA.
He asked elected leaders from the area to work together for the prosperity of the county regardless of their political affiliations.
