[Photo: Facebook/Eddy Kinyanjui Nyathuna]Nyathuna MCA Eddy Kinyanjui has launched a 69-km road rehabilitation programme in his ward that will see the roads paved and tarmacked.On Tuesday, Kinyanjui launched the Ha Michael-Kibiku primary junction and Karura-Kwa mbari ya mega roads."The road works are now on and will continue tomorrow till all the roads that are under my office are worked on, which total up to 69km all around Nyathuna ward. We want to ensure that residents gain mobility and are able to move easily as they go on with their day to day activities," said Kinyanjui.As per the progress on Wangige-Ruku-Ngecha road, Kirangari-Nyathuna road and Karura-Gikuni-Kabocha road which are the ward's main roads, he said that geologists were already on site to examine them before construction begins."They have to examine the routes, conduct soil testing, see kind of buildings due to machines to be used, environmental issues like schools due to noise and pollution. After this, we are expecting Kenya Rural Roads Authority to put marks on buildings, trees and other structures and finally occupation to the site and construction will begin," he added.He noted that residents have complained for long over impassable roads and it was high time the roads rehabilitation begun before the long rains fall.Kinyanjui said that the ward will become a beehive of activities once the rehabilitation is over, adding that the main hindrance to the ward residents has been poor roads. Is there a newsworthy accident, incident or event happening in Kiambu that you want Hivisasa to cover?
