All form four students from Nyaura mixed secondary will start boarding from next week on Monday in order to increase study time, the school principal has said.
Speaking on Tuesday in his office, headteacher Joash Nyaberi said the decision was arrived by the board of management that sat last week on Friday following the completion of new hostels.
“As from Monday, we expect our candidates to operate from the school in [a] bid to increase study time. The board of management sat down and agreed on the plan since we have completed constructing a hostel,” he said.
Nyaberi said the move will ensure students revise appropriately ahead of their exams besides giving teachers easy time to complete their syllabuses.
“Our candidates will get enough time to study and prepare well ahead of major exams. Also, teachers will be able to complete their syllabuses just ahead of time.”
According to the school boss, if the plan succeeds with form fours, the management may consider admitting form threes as borders since the hostel has a capacity to host more than 400 students.
“We will have discussions with parents in [the] coming days to see whether we can also admit form threes as borders since we have enough capacity to sustain that initiative. We hope our candidates will settle soon,” he said.
