Leader of minority in the National Assembly and MP for Kitui West Francis Nyenze has asked Cord co-principals Raila Odinga and Moses Wetangula to back Kalonzo Musyoka as the coalition flag bearer in 2017.
Nyenze said that Kalonzo will ensure that opposition forms the next government come 2017.
Speaking during the burial of Mavoko MP’s Patrick Makau’s father at Ngulani in Machakos during the burial of Mavoko MP’s Patrick Makau father, Nyenze said that Cord stands a better chance to clinch next year’s elections if Kalonzo will be the presidential flag bearer.
“Our appeal is to Cord co-principals Raila Odinga and Moses Wetangula to endorse Kalonzo as our flag bearer for us to easily win the 2017 election,” he said.
Mr Nyenze however, said that they are ready to support the candidate that will endorsed by the coalition.
Machakos senator Johnson Muthama said that Cord will remain united. The senator rubbished claims that there are cracks in the coalition.
“Those spreading rumors that Cord is collapsing are only engaging in propaganda,” he said.
Siaya senator James Orengo said that Cord was keen to win the 2017 polls. He said that the coalition is working on strategies that will kick out Jubilee come 2017.
There have been claims that Cord is on the brink of collapse claims that Co-principals Raila Odinga, Moses Wetangula and Kalonzo Musyoka have refuted.
During his tour of the Western region that ended on Friday, Raila Odinga assured supporters that Cord is united. He said that Jubilee was trying to weaken the opposition by buying some members.
