A section of Ukambani elders drawn from Kitui County have castigated National Assembly Minority Leader Francis Nyenze for endorsing President Uhuru Kenyatta for re-election during the forthcoming general elections.

The Kibwezi West MP allegedly called on the locals to reelect President Kenyatta for a second term during a state function in his constituency.

“If somebody does well for you, you can’t forget. Can you forget those who have done well like Uhuru Kenyatta?” he posed.

The endorsement, however, appears to have brushed the elders the wrong way, calling for the punishment for the lawmaker.

They further accused the Wiper MP of betraying the community and the NASA agenda by extension.

“As he speaks, he has a Wiper nomination ticket for the parliamentary seat. The political Parties Act does not allow him to support or to appear to support any other political party. It is an offence,” the group's Chair Macheal Musila noted.
