National Assembly Minority Leader Francis Nyenze has said that leaders from Ukambani are not requesting the National Super Alliance to name Wiper Party Leader Stephen Kalonzo the Presidential candidate ahead of the August General poll.

Speaking after issuing NASA with a 7-day ultimatum to name its candidate, Nyenze said the leaders from this part of the nation are now demanding for the alliance to pick the former vice President to battle it out with President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto during the forthcoming general polls.

“This is no longer a request. We are not begging, it is a demand we are making. It is either Kalonzo or there will be no NASA, at least not including the Wiper party,” he said, as quoted by Standard.

According to Nyenze, the agreement between Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and Wiper Party cannot be ignored as the alliance deliberates on whom to select for the nation’s top seat.

“The agreement was as simple as Wiper supporting Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila (Odinga) in 2013, and a similar gesture being made in 2017 to Kalonzo, irrespective of the outcome of the last polls,” he said.
