The late Kitui West MP Francis Nyenze will be laid to rest on Tuesday, December 19, Veteran politician Raila Amolo Odinga has revealed.
Speaking during a visit to the lawmaker’s home on Saturday, the Former Prime Minister said that there will be a fundraising on Wednesday to give him a befitting send-off.
The leader of the opposition described Nyenze’s demise as a big blow to the party an entire nation.
“The death of Nyenze is a big blow to the NASA fraternity, he was one of the pillars of NASA, Kitui West has lost a great leader,” Odinga said, as quoted by Capital FM.
Born on June 2, 1957, Nyenze was a graduate of the University. He first entered parliament in 1997 as the MP for Kitui East.
The lawmaker passed on at a Nairobi Hospital after a long battle with chronic cancer at the age of 60. Until his death, he was among the most influential leaders from Ukambani.
Nyenze caused a storm in the opposition when he threatened to lead the Kamba community from National Super Alliance (NASA) if Wiper Party Leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka was shortchanged in the race to state. He, however, changed his stance after consulting with other members of Wiper.
