A section of Kitui leaders have endorsed the late Kitui West MP Francis Nyenze’s wife, Edith to succeed him.

According to the leaders, supporting Edith for the seat is one of the best ways to reward the fallen hero.

Led by Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu, the leaders said that she deserves the seat following the demise of the vocal lawmaker.

“I have heard what Kitui West wants, Edith Nyenze you will carry this seat on your shoulder and I will campaign for you,” Ngilu said during the burial as quoted by Tuko.co.ke.

The burial of the late legislator was attended by several leaders from both political divides.

Wiper Party Leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka failed to make it to the burial.

During the same function, Ngilu pledged to work with President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto to ensure that her people reap from the fruits of devolution during her term in office.

Nyenze was among the most powerful leaders from Ukambani before he met his death.

He stirred a storm in the opposition when he said that he will lead the Kamba nation from the alliance if Kalonzo is not named the flag bearer.

The lawmaker, however, changed his mind following consultations with leaders of his political outfit.
