Speaking at his Karen home in Nairobi on Thursday, Kalonzo said he wouldn't know where to hide his face since it could have been shameful if in the turn of events Nyenze lost the election.

The former Vice President said he wouldn't be able to convince Kenyans to vote for him in 2022 if his party failed to recapture the Kitui West parliamentary seat.

"It would have been a total shame for me if Madam Vethi Nyenze didn't win the by-election, I wouldn't be able to redeem myself from the shame in years. Now, I have the courage to stand before Kenyans and ask them to support me in my presidential bid," Kalonzo said.

Kalonzo said he has high hopes of whitewashing the other competitors in the presidential race in 2022 just like Nyenze did to her opponents in Kitui West constituency recently.

"With the support of my community I am 100% sure of clinching the top seat, It's a done deal," Kalonzo said.

Faith Vethi Nyenze clinched 72% of the casted votes in the Kitui West constituency by-election held on March 26, 2018.
