Controversial Kitui West MP Francis Nyenze is reportedly facing a heated insurgence from a section of Wiper Party members who have called for the revocation of the lawmaker's nomination certificate.
The uproar comes just a day after Nyenze allegedly endorsed President Uhuru Kenyatta for a second term during the forthcoming general elections.
“Let us not be swayed by politics of empty rhetoric by those alleging President Uhuru has not worked well. The truth is Uhuru Kenyatta has done a lot and we will elect those whose work can be seen,” he was quoted saying during a public function in his backyard.
Led by Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jnr, the leaders claimed that Jubilee was sponsoring Nyenze to wreck Opposition alliance NASA from within. On his part, Wiper Executive Director Jared Siso dismissed Nyenze's endorsement for President Kenyatta, revealing that the party will be seeking redress on the National Assembly Leader of Minority's conduct.
“Nyenze is quite aware of the consequences of campaigning for a rival party. Wiper will no doubt be seeking a clarification from Nyenze as to whether he has shifted his allegiance from our party to Jubilee candidate, after which we will chart the way forward,” Siso said.
Nyenze has since been given the greenlight to seek re-election on a Wiper Party ticket by IEBC.
