The death of two Nyeri governors has sent shockwaves within the county assembly.
The first governor Nderitu Gachagua died while in office and left his deputy to finish their term in office.
And after the second election cycle, Dr Wahome Gakuru, who did not have any illness died in a tragic road crash.
This has led many to believe the post of Nyeri governor is 'cursed' and 'whoever takes it will be followed by the curse'.
Residents said there is a bad omen following their county bosses.
As such, the incoming governor, Mutahi Kahiga, who was the deputy governor has called for a ritual ceremony at the offices before he takes over.
"We are going to have a cleansing ceremony carried out by the clergy at the county government offices on Monday morning and then I an going to be sworn into office in the afternoon," Kahiga said.
