The lawmaker cited examples of a recent scenario when five youths were illegally arrested and detained in Limuru police station only to be freed on her intervention.

She urged residents to disallow officers whose motive was to be bribed at the expense of securing wananchi.

Speaking in Ndenderu in Kiambaa during a prayer rally aimed at rebuking evil agents which are reported to be tormenting people by causing accidents, triggering killings and violence, Nyokabi said that time had come for Kenyans to turn to God for a change.

"Today I say no to cases of police officers arresting or killing Kiambu youths at the expense of being bribed to free them. This must come to a stop. We cannot have officers arresting and killing the youth, and violating their rights. The regime of police brutality was replaced by police service whose mandate is to peacefully ensure law and order are upheld," she added.

She said that police should take the full responsibility of the recent killings of a lawyer, his client and a taxi driver adding that NTSA had a huge workload to restore sanity on roads.

Nyokabi urged NTSA to ensure all risky areas are bumped and serious traffic police officers deployed to restore order on roads.
