Kiambu Women Representative Annah Nyokabi today, Wednesday supplied farming seeds to the people of Nachu and Thigio, within Kiambu County.
Each homestead was given at least 50kgs of cereals including fertilizers, maize and bean seeds, and urged to start tilling their lands to eradicate poverty in the region and improve food security, which has been very poor.
The residents could not hide their joy and jubilation, terming the women rep as God sent, saying they have gone through a hectic life with no one to come to their rescue.
According to Nyokabi, the Jubilee government is keen in improving the food sector in the country, and Kiambu is just among the first beneficiaries of the programme.
“We are among the first beneficiaries in the country and thanks to the Jubilee government, who have donated the seedling to improve our livelihood,” said Nyokabi
She further encouraged the residents as far as Karai and Ndeiya to use the seedlings given by the national government to improve their living standards, and improve food security in their respective homes.
She revealed that she still has plenty of seedlings to be donated to the Kiambu County people, and each ward will grasp the fruit of the Jubilee manifesto programme.
Nyokabi has however extended her gratitude to the ministry of Agriculture under the national government, lauding them as good leaders for the people of Kenya.
