Kiambu Women representative Anne Nyokabi has launched the “Mama County-Kiambu Bus” in Ruiru to assist women and youths in affirmative action social development funds activities.
Speaking after presenting the bus, Nyokabi said that women and youths have been doing a great work in development and creating employment for others in the region. She said that some have started groups to develop themselves but were facing difficulties.
Nyokabi said that the bus will help them in getting funds through leasing and other transportation activities.
She said that this will continue as she is planning to give over 100 buses to women and youths. She said that youths and women are the ones mostly affected by the unemployment in the region and such development projects will help the county curb unemployment among them.
“It is very encouraging when we see our youths and women forming groups to fight unemployment. We have to show our support towards their development as it also develop the County,’’ said Nyokabi.
She said that she aims to ensure at least 5 groups from every sub county can benefit to two buses.
