Kiambu Women Representative Annah Nyokabi has urged MPs to pass the two-thirds gender rule come Thursday this week.
Nyokabi said that the Bill if passed will ensure equal representation of women in public positions.
She observed that passing of the two-thirds gender rule has taken long to be passed by the National Assembly.
“Our appeal to Members of Parliament is for them to pass the two-thirds gender rule once it is table in the House on Thursday,” said Nyokabi when she awarded beneficiaries of the Affirmative Social Development Fund trainee’s certificates at the Thika Technical Institute on Friday.
Nyokabi asked female MPs to lobby their male counterparts to pass the Bill.
On Wednesday last week, MPs failed to pass the Gender Bill when it was tabled in parliament.
The MPs who voted for the Bill could not meet the threshold required for a Bill to be passed.
Speaker of the National Assembly Justin Muturi ruled that the Bill be tabled and voted for again on Thursday this week.
The two-thirds gender principle provides for equal representation of all genders on appointment to public positions.
