Kisumu County chief Anyang’ Nyong’o will not use offices used by his predecessor Jack Ranguma after all due to their ‘cursed’ nature.
Nyong’o, a close ally of opposition leader Raila Odinga won by a landslide in the recently concluded elections.
And the 25 million that was used by Ranguma to refurbish a section of former Nyanza provincial headquarters will now go to waste following Nyong’o’s decision to abandon them for some other space within the same building.
The tough speaking professor had vowed to use a ‘modest’ office that fits ordinary people as a way of connecting easily with the public.
He had accused his predecessor of ‘luxury’ and assured locals that he will use most of his time working for people rather than sitting in the office.
During the ODM primaries in April, Nyong’o was accused of botching nominations in his favour by bribing Returning Officers.
For a period of over a decade, Nyong’o has worked closely with Odinga including serving as ODM Secretary General.
