Kisumu Senator Anyang Nyong’o has been asked to help bring sanity into Kisumu by joining in the calls for mass action.
Youths groups in the lakeside county have also asked the former Orange Democratic Movement, ODM party Secretary General to advise the orange party not to interfere with the planned mass action against the county government or intervene to save Governor Jack Ranguma who is currently under siege from a section of the angry and disgruntled residents.
Nyanza Youth Association, Kisumu City Residents Voice Association and other civil rights groups have fiercely called for mass action against Ranguma’s governance, claiming that it has been characterised by underdevelopment and mismanagement of resources.
Through the joint groups’ spokesman Brian Jobita, they appealed to Nyong’o to help in the fight against the county government.
“We are appealing to our Senator Nyong’o not to shy away from joining us in the fight against poor governance, lack of equity and mismanagement of resources and public cash by the county government,” said Jobita.
He added, “We are also asking the senator, who is a close confidant of Cord leader Raila Odinga and a former party Secretary General to advise the party to stay away from saving Ranguma as this is not a party affair.”
The group was addressing the press today at Social hall in Kisumu.
