Kisumu Senator Anyang Nyongo has been challenged to offer leadership in the county.
Kisumu City Residents’ Voice Association Chairman Audi Ogada has asked the senator to avail himself to the people and help solve leadership problems in Kisumu.
Speaking to this writer on Wednesday, Ogada said the senator is rarely seen at county events and asked Nyongo to explain.
“When there is a problem with the county government the person to run to is normally the senator. The problem with Kisumu however is that the senator is rarely seen by his constituents,” said Ogada.
The activist asked Nyong’o to be available whenever residents need his help as the county government is currently being accused of many issues such as mismanagement of public funds and resources.
On the same matter, a section of Kisumu leaders have come to the defence of the senator saying the claims against the senator are baseless.
The senator’s personal assistant, Babu Karan, said that the senator is normally around every Thursday through Monday.
“The senate has its sittings in Nairobi and that is why our senators and Members of Parliament are in Nairobi most of the time. The senator normally finds time to come to Kisumu to address issues affecting the county,” said Karan.
Nominated MCA Farida Salim said that the senator is normally around during weekends to attend to people’s issues.
