A section of Kisumu residents have blamed Governor Anyang' Nyong'o for the recent flood experienced in the region.
The locals of Kajuju have accused Nyongo’s administration of laxity citing the poor state of the bridge in the area which broke down allowing water to overflow into their farms and homes.
The locals claimed that the governor and his team was not responding to the poor state of the bridge.
“The County Government over the years wait until our homes are flooded and our belongings are washed away by the floods and then come in to help yet they don’t want to address the situation before disaster strikes,” said Geofrey Ogello a resident of the area.
The residents noted that had the governor responded early then their animals and belongings wouldn't have been swept away.
“Had the governor learnt from the past years about the flooding here then we would not have had the same problem recurring every year as we are experiencing,” Francis Simbala noted.
The residents are worried that the same will occur and they will continue losing their property.
“We want the National and County government to address the issue urgently since we risk losing our own lives and those of our animals,” Patrick Moseti said.
