The Governor of Kisumu Prof. Anyang' Nyong'o attended the East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA) meeting at Sovereign Hotel, Kisumu.
At the function, the governor said he is interested in the survival of the Lake and making use of it in a sustainable manner.
He expressed concern that Lake Victoria had been threatened by environmental degradation.
Nyong'o challenged Lake Victoria Basin Commission (LVBC) to come up with a time action plan that will make it possible for all member states to hold a meeting to save Lake Victoria.
The governor indicated that focus should not only be on maritime transport and the Northern corridor, but also establishing legal framework that improves air travel and establishes flights from Kisumu to other EAC regions.
Also present during the meeting on Saturday was his Deputy Dr. Ochieng' Owili and County Secretary Dr. Olang'o Onudi.
