Kisumu Senator Anyang’ Nyong’o is the latest leader to call for IEBC to be mandated with overseeing party primaries ahead of the next general election.

The lawmaker has urged both Jubilee and Cord coalitions to embrace the initiative because it will support democracy and at the same time minimize cases of foul cry among leaders who will lose.

Nyong'o who was speaking in Kisumu on Sunday seemed to differ with his party leader Raila Odinga who has been against the move.

According to Odinga, party primaries should be conducted internally and IEBC should be given enough time to prepare for the next general election.

ODM is expected to conduct its party nomination next year February ahead of the 2017 polls.
