Kisumu governor Anyang Nyong'o has received support from an ODM politician after his latest directive that seeks to control protests in the lakeside city.

Kisumu Woman representative Rosa Buyu has said she supports the governor's call since it will help avert any future destruction of property.

Buyu lauded Nyong’o urged the residents of the city to cooperate for the benefit of the business community and all who live in the area.

“I don’t think Governor Nyong’o has banned protests. All that the governor is saying is that let’s use the constitutional right to picket responsibly without impacting negatively to the economy of the region,” she said.

Buyu said it is unfortunate that some individuals used the opportunity to cause mayhem and destroy property thus stalling Kisumu's economic progress.

Nyong'o had earlier in the day, termed as criminal the acts of barricading roads, robing locals, and pelting stones on vehicles during the demonstrations.
