Former Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma has told the court that Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o’s illegally gained access into the IEBC servers with the help of an agent and manipulated results in fovour of the Kisumu governor.

Mr Ranguma’s ICT expert, Levy Oduor attested in the case challenging the August 8 Kisumu gubernatorial contest outcome claimed that Nyong’o’s agent had access to the IEBC servers. The expert said the agent; Mr. Migot deleted results files, altered figures and took time to upload contrived Form 37As that gave Nyong’o a win.

Oduor told the court that he used a confidant at IEBC to access the servers, and was able to obtain information on the poll outcome which proves Ranguma won. From the server analysis, Oduor claimed Ranguma won the race by 245, 534 votes with the incumbent Nyong’o’s managing to get only 167, 716 votes.

IEBC lawyer Edwin Mukele, in the suit questioned the legality of the means used by the expert to access the servers and sought to have him defend the act that he described as illegal whereas the testimony was critical.

“Are you aware that it was illegal for you to access the IEBC servers? Were you working with Ranguma or his agents to do this,” asked the IEBC lead counsel, with Siaya Senator James Orengo raising similar concern.

Senator Orengo is leading Governor Nyong’o’s defense team.

The expert in his defense argued that it was in the interest of the public for him to have accessed the servers so as to verify the authenticity of the poll outcome.
