[Photo|Governor Nyong'o press unit]Kisumu Governor Prof Anyang' Nyong'o on Thursday, held a meeting with a UN delegation, led by the UN Environment - Kenya Country Programme Coordinator, Dr Cyrille-Lazare Siewe.The meeting covered several issues including waste management, new drainage and sewerage systems management in the city covering expanded areas like Riat where the city has grown to.Other topics explored were; space planning and mapping using GIS technology for urban renewal of the city, investments in water resources management to maximise use of the lakes and rivers in the region, an aggressive reforestation programme that would work right through to the village level especially after the creation of Village Councils. The group also reviewed the Green Climate Fund and the Blue Economy before joining the City Manager Doris Ombara, at her office at City Hall where the conversation was extended to relocation of Kachok dumpsite.
