As the race to clinch the Kisumu gubernatorial seat heats up, Senator Prof Peter Anyang' Nyong'o who is seen as Governor Jackson Ranguma's main rival is crafting ways that he can use to unseat the governor who he has in the past accused of mismanagement.
The senator has been holding meetings with Members of County Assembly (MCAs) with a view to giving them his policies.
The latest meeting was held on Wednesday at a Kisumu hotel.
According to the MCAs who were present during the meeting, the senator used the forum to sell his candidature ahead of the polls as well as ask for their support.
"The senator informed us that he is running for the position of governor in Kisumu and asked for our support as elected leaders, but with a caution that he will not get offended if we fail to support his bid for the seat. The meeting was a full house," Seme MCA Aggrey Ogosi was quoted by local dailies as saying.
The Seme MCA confirmed that the veteran politician will be seeking for the ODM ticket and he confirmed he is ready to fight for it just like other candidates.
Prof Nyong'o was also quick to confirm about the meeting on his Facebook page saying that he held a consultative meeting on how to improve services in the county.
Insiders say that the senator is trying to reach out to MCAs who have broken ranks with the governor over the management of the county.
