Kisumu County governor Professor Peter Anyang Nyong’o has lauded the Communications Authority (CA) for opening an office in Kisumu.
Speaking during the official launch of the office at the lake Basin Mall in Mamboleo on Friday, the governor said establishment of the office will improve cooperation between the county government and Information Communications Technology (ICT) investors.
“I recognize the role of ICT in the society as it acts as a catalyst in business, agriculture and other productive sectors. ICT stands to be one of the sectors of choice for the youth” said the governor.
CA board chairman Mr. Ngene Gituku said that establishment of the Authority’s office in Kisumu is a pointer to growth in ICT and other sectors of the economy in the region.
“Technology is major driver in achieving President Uhuru Kenyatta’s big four agenda,” he said.
The Presidents big four agenda are: food security, affordable housing, manufacturing and affordable health care for all.
The new office will serve Kisumu, Siaya, Homa Bay, Kisii, Migori, Bomet and Nyamira Counties.
It will be under Regional Manager Mr. Brian Mukhongo. Present during the event were among others CA Director General Francis Wangusi, Kisumu County Executive Members and officials from the Communication Authority.
