Peter Nyong’o, the outgoing Kisumu Senator, now wants his governorship competitors to concede defeat and work with him.

In a fiercely contested election, two controversial results were announced in which Nyong’o and incumbent Governor Jack Ranguma was declared winners separately.

Although the National elections Board is yet to make a formal communication, Nyong’o who scoped over 140,000 votes, defended the result saying he was validly elected.

“I respect democracy and the people of Kisumu decided. Let my competitors join hands with the winning team,” he said.

The veteran leader added: “Elections were free, fair and transparent. Those crying foul should accept the results because it’s the true reflection of people.”

But according to Mr. Ranguma, Nyong’o had sensed defeat before allegedly compromising Returning Officer to declare him the winner.

“We never lost an election and that remains. The people of Kisumu will make the ultimate decision,” he said adding that he had won the elections.
