Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o on Tuesday met his Nandi counterpart Stephen Sang' as the two moved to quell rising tension along the border of the two devolved units.
The meeting whose main agenda was to find lasting solutions to the recurrent border row between the Kisumu and Nandi was also attended by Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i.
"This morning I held talks with my Nandi counterpart Governor Stephen Sang' as a sign of expressing our intention to strengthen the ties that bind both Kisumu and Nandi counties in a meeting that was chaired by the Cabinet Secretary of Interior Security and Coordination of National Government, Fred Matiang'i at Waterbuck Hotel in Nakuru.
"Let us not build a mountain out of the mole hill but instead allow constitutionally mandated bodies to deal with the boundaries issues such as IEBC and the National Lands Commission," Nyong'o's said in a statement after the meeting.
There has been rising tension along the Kisumu-Nandi border especially in areas of Muhoroni and Nandi Hills.
The border row hit a high during the August 8 general election when youth clashed forcing some locals to flee for their lives.
The chaos were only quelled after the two governors convened a meeting and resolved to prevail over the fighting youth.
